Oil Continues to Slide
Oil prices continue to slide today, with news that the US Market is a little over-supplied right now. Through more conservation and better efficiencies, this is the same method consumers can practice to help keep the supply high, and demand low.
…The drop extended a 6 percent slide over two days, pressured by ample fuel stockpiles in top consumer the United States and no evidence of other OPEC members joining Nigeria and Venezuela in cutting output.
“We believe that the market is slightly oversupplied,” OPEC President Edmund Daukoru, who is also Nigeria’s top oil official, told Reuters. “(Today’s drop in the oil price) vindicates what Nigeria is doing and I hope other members will act in the same way.”

Interesting site! It has been a “pet peeve” of mine for a long time that people feel there is “nothing I can do” to change today’s oil dependency issues. Don’t get me wrong I’m not a radical but I do appreciate the ability to be a “little green”. Why not try some new ideas, if not for the health of the planet, or the ability to put a financial hurt on factions we may not wish to support, but to help your own pocket. I own an SUV and have dealt with the recent 3-4 dollars a gallon like everyone else. And to think eveyone is rejoicing over the fact that prices have dropped to $2.50/gal, are you kidding me!? There is still much more room to improve. I have tempered my own gas consumption through commuting to work via motorcycle and pedal bike. I choose to keep the SUV because it aids in my family life as well as some of my hobbies. Throwing $50 a week into the tank does exactly the opposite. In contrast I have commuted @ 800 miles via motorcycle on honestly less then $50. I know motorcycles aren’t for everyone, but the point is there ARE things you can do. You don’t have to sacrifice too much. I’m interested in finding various other ways to lessen my own consumption. I look forward to reading more.
P.S. Watch out for motorcyclists, please, (most of us are not out to
pass you at 100 m.p.h. on one wheel :)
