Our Ad Policy
An Important Note About Advertisements
We do NOT endorse any of the “miracle-mileage fuel additives” or “run you car on water” or “HHO” products you may see advertised here through Google Ads.
Just like most every other website, I have added some advertising to try to help off-set operating costs, hoping that as readership and popularity increases, the blog may make a modest profit for the company. But more important to me is that I earn and protect the trust of you – my valued reader – so I intend to be as responsible as possible with the types of advertising I publish.
Simply put, I don’t want to have ads on my sites that sell “miracle-mileage fuel-additives” or “run-your-car-on-water HHO” kits… I’ve turned down “sponsorship” from several such companies over the last year. It’s my opinion that those things probably do not work as advertised. You can read more about this at the Federal Trade Commission and decide for yourself.
I am using Google AdSense (and Amazon links) to place a few advertisements on the site, hoping that you will find the advertised products interesting and useful. Google AdSense decides what ads show up in those spaces, and does not allow me very much control over the kinds of products that appear in the ads.
(There is a “URL Blocking List” that I do use, and it works very well, but requires constant monitoring of the ads on my website to always find the latest URLs to block. Companies advertising these products often create new URLs to get around this kind of black-listing, so you may still see them regardless of this filtering effort. )
Google AdSense automatically finds ads that Google thinks matches the site nicely – and that you would be interested in clicking (after all, they make their share of the ad revenue money when you click). Because of the wealth of fuel efficiency related content here at Fuelishness!, and the fact that these kinds of product ads often pay a premium ad rate, Google often serves up ads for exactly these kinds of products I’d rather not have on my site.
So just beware, if you see those kinds ads on my site and are curious about those products, please exercise your most cautious best-judgement and do additional research about the product and it’s claims before parting with any of your hard-earned money.
As the price of gas has dropped, I’m seeing fewer of these kinds of products in Google Ads – but as the price of gas goes back up, they’ll be back in full force.
And just for the record – Google Ads work wonderfully most of the time and show good related advertising, and while I am not allowed to encourage you to click them, I certainly do not want to discourage you either. I just want you to be aware of what I’m aware of, so you can make the best decision for yourself.
